The article will help in choosing linoleum for finishing apartments and offices.
According to the European standard EN660-1, the abrasion resistance of linoleum is classified into four groups: F, M, P and T. Each group indicates a different degree of resistance to wear and abrasion.
1. Group F (Forced): Linoleum in this group has the highest degree of resistance to wear and abrasion. It is intended for use in high-traffic public areas such as shopping malls, airports and other high-traffic areas.
2. Group M (Moderate): Linoleum of this group has a moderate degree of resistance to wear and abrasion. It is suitable for use in medium traffic areas such as offices, hospitals and schools.
3. Group P (Prolonged): Linoleum in this group has a medium degree of resistance to wear and abrasion. It is recommended for areas with low to moderate loads, such as residential areas or some commercial areas.
4. Group T (Tolerant): Linoleum in this group has a low degree of resistance to wear and abrasion. It is intended for areas with very low loads, such as temporary installations or areas that are not subject to heavy use.
In the factory, the abrasion resistance of linoleum is determined using an abrasive wheel. The procedure involves spinning it for a certain time and with a certain load. The wear of the linoleum is then assessed and the corresponding abrasion group is assigned according to the test results. This helps manufacturers to determine which conditions of use the linoleum is most suitable for and to guarantee its longevity.
